Thinking to purchase a new tent? Or still wondering which material and fabric to go for? This topic will help you in purchasing the perfect tent for all your outdoor trips as we are going to compare Cotton Canvas Tent with Nylon Tents below:
A “Canvas” is basically the traditional tent fabric filled up with many amazing characteristics making it a perfect tent for camping and other outdoor activities. In the past, Canvas was usually created from “Hemp”, but nowadays “Cotton” is used to produce Canvases for tents. Therefore, whenever you read “Canvas Tents” or “Cotton Tents”, don’t get confused, just remember this piece of information that they are actually produced from the one same material.
Nylon material is a synthetic fiber which is a man-made material. The word Nylon describes itself as a group of synthetic polymers which can be transformed into any shape of fiber or into a lot of other shapes by melting them.
Thus, it is involved in the manufacturing of many things.
A Cotton Canvas tent can insulate effectively depending on the weather. It won’t make you feel as hot as on a very warm day, and likewise, won’t make you feel chilly in cold temperatures either.
Whereas, Nylon tents tend to be bad at insulating as these tents could get very hot in the summers and freezing when it’s cold outside.
Cotton tents easily absorb water and thus, possess natural breathable quality in its fabric. It also, won’t create the issues of condensation then.
However, Nylon tents on the other hand, does not possess a breathable factor in its fabric. It may support condensation built up on its inside which can also be enough to create puddles.
Canvas tents can be quieter because of its weight and insulation characteristics also, resulting in less noise in the occurrence of breeze.
A Nylon tent possesses of a light-weight quality material, which means during the breeze they might flap around a lot more, resulting in disturbance of sleep.
The fabric of Cotton tents is long lasting and becomes resistant to the exposure to harmful UV rays.
The Nylon tent deteriorates over time. Along with that, they can also lose their color when it comes under the exposure of the sun’s rays.
Canvas appears to be long lasting and strong; one which can work and support your camping trips for years. On the basis of experiencing personally, a new Cotton Canvas doesn’t possess any harsh, new product smell in them.
On the other side, Nylon tents possess an easily tear-able material when in contact with a sharp object or even mishandled in some other way. They will also possess a chemical smell in them when utilized for the first time, being an artificial material.
To conclude, some of the manufacturers are now producing and selling water-proofed Cotton Canvas Tents. This treatment does not affect the breathable factor, however this treatment would benefit the tents during the morning dew and light shower by beading off the water drops from the tent, in the end, making the Canvas free from being wet and muddy. Due to this creative idea, the Cotton Canvas tents are becoming more practical for families as it tends to be helpful in regards to the drying period; particularly, an essential factor for such campsites that require you to leave the location early.

So we heard that it is your first shot at camping. We must say that you have made a great plan, now let us help you carry that plan out in a fun and organized way.
While camping is a very suitable idea for a nice happening picnic, one cannot deny that it can be quite stressing with all the packing and organizing involved. Everyone wants to be a happy camper, but not everyone knows how to be one.
There are many ideas that can be helpful to you, but if they’re applied at the last minute, things can things can get really messy. We see that many people do not consider organizing their trip and gear or perhaps, as first-timers, they are not aware of the importance of planning beforehand. Hence, we suggest the ideas and hacks are applied beforehand so as to avoid the mess and yes, the headaches too!
Poorly stored gear makes it prone to deterioration and, as a result, it ends up getting worn and torn at a faster rate than its designated shelf life.
That’s why we say that a little planning is recommended to make your experience pleasant and easy on the pocket in the long run. Following is a little guide for you to take help from when you sit down for the planning and organization of your stuff.
Use Storage Bins For The Gear:
We perfectly understand how tempting it must be to just chuck everything in a bag. Let us tell you that not only is it an unorganized way to go about things, but it can also cost you your gear.
Therefore, use plastic storage bins as they will keep your gear protected and in place. We recommend plastic storage bins due to the fact that they are weather resistant as well as extremely durable.
The Duffle Bags:
These bags are ideal for organizing your personal belongings. The fun part is that if you plan to take your children on the trip with you, you can hand each one their own colored duffle bag. Not only should the children love the colors, they will also feel responsible for their own things. Train and teach them how to organize and store their own stuff, such as toys, play cards or any other item they wish to bring along on the trip. This way, you will not have to keep a check on your children’s items and micromanage every little thing on the trip.
Do It the Smarter Way – Keep Your Essentials Accessible:
There are some items like sunscreen, flashlights, mosquito and bug repellents, and toiletries such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, etc., that you will need to access frequently; store them in a compartment easily accessible to at any given time, possibly an outer pocket or get a separate cabinet organizer for these items so you don’t have to rummage through your whole luggage every time you feel like washing your face or brushing your teeth. In addition to this, choose your clothing wisely as you surely do not want your campsite all cluttered. Also, do not resort to folding your clothes as they will occupy a lot of space which you might need at a later point in your trip. Instead, roll your garments; this practice will not only save you space but it will also make it easier for you to pick and choose what to wear.
The Canvas Tool Bags:
Trust us when we say that the canvas tool bags are your truest, best friends when you’re going camping. They come in a wide variety of sizes and configurations, which makes them an ideal storage choice. You can organize the kitchen utensils, toiletries or even your first aid in them very conveniently. Other than this, one really smart way is to pack your items in small bags and nest them into one larger bag.
The Labeling Game:
Keep this game strong and on point! Once you have everything sorted and set in place, start labeling each of your storage containers. Just grab some tape and write on it. This will help prevent nasty panic attacks from showing up, as you will be mentally clear about where everything goes even after you take it out of the spot and storage. For example, label the container in which your make-up is packed as cosmetics and the one with towels and toothpaste etc. as toiletries. This way not only packing, but unpacking will also be easier for you.
The Tic-Tac Box:
Yes, you read it right! This is also a cool way to organize your items. You definitely will not require spices in a huge amount, hence there is no need to carry them in their original bulky containers. However, you will still need something to store a small, useable quantity of spices, for which tic-tac candy boxes will prove to be handy. They shall be easier to pack in, thanks to their small size, and can also be used as sprinklers.
Kill Two With One:
You obviously will need a lot of water to drink and you would also want to keep your food fresh for a longer period of time. Both of the things can be achieved by simply freezing gallon jugs of water and placing them inside your cooler. This way, it will keep your food items cold and later, you will have sufficient amount of water to drink too.
As cumbersome as it may all sound, you will definitely heave a sigh of relief in the future and will thank us, and even yourself, for all the time and effort you spent in the organization of your stuff. Remember, planning is half the part of the art of living – and also traveling, of course. Taking some time out before the trip will save you from wasting time during the trip; instead of getting caught up in sorting and worrying while camping you will be able to enjoy your experience to the max. It’s better to get things right the first time and sparing yourself the horror of doing twice the work. Good luck, happy camper!

Looking for backyard glamping guestroom? Planning an outdoor backyard fun birthday party?
Our cotton canvas tents, bell tents and wall tents are 4 season and sturdy, and hold up well on rainy days and heavy winds, but its always good to hear it from someone who actually used the tent.
The following is our small conversation with Marcy Brown; one of our amazing customers, where we ask her about how she does the backyard setup so well, her interests and how she found her experience in a White Duck Outdoors Bell Tent as her camping tent!
1) How did you decide on White Duck Outdoors for your tent?
Once I decided that glamping was the solution to my holiday guest room shortage, I painstakingly compared the tents out there. I found that a lot of the companies were cheap knockoffs, with sketchy or bad reviews, and that’s not what I wanted. I needed it to be durable, pretty, and of a certain size. I needed my guests to stay warm and dry and I needed it to stay up with no “oops!” for at least a couple of weeks. And I needed to know that I’d be able to put it up on a non-conventional surface (concrete/wood) in a very non-conventional way. My search came down to two manufacturers: White Duck and Bell Tent. I really went back and forth between the two, read every single review, and ultimately the tie-breaker was your customer service. You guys answered my questions about setting it up on a hard surface, and I was confident that it could be done.
2) What got you and your family into the idea of camping or buying a tent?
My tent purchase was probably not the normal purchase. I needed to figure out how to house 8 adults for the holidays--3 grown kids and their significant others, plus my husband and me--in our 3-bedroom house. I wanted everyone to be comfortable. I wanted to be able to make the space pretty and festive. I didn’t want to break the bank. I started looking for RV rentals, which ultimately led me to glamping rentals. Since I needed the tent for at least 2 weeks, it made more sense to just buy one.
3) How was your experience camping with White Duck Outdoors?
My 27-year old son and his girlfriend stayed in the tent. They LOVED it. I made it beautiful before they arrived: full size bed with warm, fluffy linens, dresser, armchair, side tables, lamps, a pretty rug, twinkly lights, flowers and an oil-filled radiator heater. They had their own space, it was warm and cozy even through 40 degree LA nights, and it was the perfect holiday getaway while visiting the family. They were both sad when they learned that I took it down (after they’d left, of course). It exceeded my very high expectations of the perfect holiday glamping guest room.
4) Any memory of note using White Duck Outdoors?
I asked my son about this. He told me that it was so cool being outside, but at the same time being in very cozy and beautiful “room.” It rained hard one night, and they could hear every drop, but once they realized that they were warm and dry, they just settled into the lull of the rain and had the best night.
5) Any goals with your tent? Any cool things you have planned?
I haven’t planned anything. But I’m excited to have the option to throw it up again if I need more space for incoming guests. It’s definitely a conversation piece, and a unique way to host.
6) We saw you had quite an innovative set up, what inspired that?
I did a lot of searching and googling for ways to put a tent up on concrete. But I didn’t want to drill holes in the concrete slab, and some heavy fall rain showed me that I’d need to elevate it by at least a few inches to keep my guests dry. I found pictures of tents on wooden decks, but didn’t want to go to the expense of building a deck. Plus, it was going to be temporary. I was looking at ideas on Pinterest and I realized that pallets would serve as a stable base to get the tent off the concrete, with plywood over the pallets to create a solid floor. So I drew up a rough diagram, figured out what I needed, found used pallets on Craigslist, and bought all of the materials I needed. I recruited handy family members to help me put it all together (and fed them a very yummy dinner), and within a short time we had a strong, stable base and were ready to put the tent up. I wasn’t sure how to do the stakes until we had the whole thing laid out on the base. We figured out that J bolts would work best, which just required a quick trip to the hardware store. I had to rig the guy lines to some very interesting places as the tent took up most of my back yard (fence posts, hillsides, rocks, pipes on the house….) but it all worked out. That tent was up for 3 weeks, and withstood intense Santa Ana winds for two full days. It was perfectly stable :)
7) How was your overall experience with White Duck Outdoors?
I’m so happy I went with White Duck Outdoors. Everything about this experience was perfect. From the customer service on the front end, the actual product, the perfect packaging….it made for a very memorable holiday season.

These type of tents provide good ventilation in the summer heat, and includes a roof canopy that successfully keeps out rain.
2) Choosing the Size: Sometimes it becomes very hard to choose the accurate and most suitable size so that everybody can get enough space. Make sure there’s 30 square feet (2.8 square meters) of space per person. Don’t go for too big tents if you are not in need of them because it might get a lot heavier and awkward while carrying it around. A-frame tents have the most common shape and are desirable because they’re less expensive and lighter.
3) Features: Tents have a various and big range if specs in them. You may also look for a fireproof, waterproof tent it will make your camping trip a lot safer and it would also expand the tents lifetime. You will also be needing to be looking for tents with windows so that if you plan to go in the summers and you feel like opening the windows if you want to refresh the air inside. If you are a large group of people then it’s more preferable to use a bell tent and this tent comes in a more like umbrella shaped. Always focus on tents that are easy to set up. Make sure the tent provides adequate weather protection that is against the sunny and rainy weather. Buy a tent made of tightly woven, rip-resistant material.
4) Double and Single Walls: There are always pros and cons of both type of tents. Tents are divided into two categories Double and Single Wall tents, the Double have high storage place and protection while the single wall tents lacks in them bit the single wall tents outcomes the double wall tents by being a lot lighter and easier to set up.
Why Choose a Canvas Tent?
Tents are manufactured by different kinds of materials. Tents are divided into two main big groups depending on the type of material that is used.
The two types of fabric, tents are usually made up of are: Canvas or Nylon.
Thirty four and sixty names of the people that come into contact with.
However each has its own pros and cons and in this blog we are going to discuss their distinctive feature and which one could be a better purchase option.
Some of the important points to keep-in-mind while considering which material tent to buy are:
1) Canvas material is usually the most qualified fabric for tents when going out for long outdoor trips because of its extensive strength, given their construction with high quality threads.
2) When comparing both the materials, the canvas tents tend to last longer than the Nylon ones due to the thread used. Nylon is comparatively easily tear-able whereas cotton is more durable and not tend to tear when subject to extreme weather conditions. Cotton canvas has one major advantage and that is mostly more spacious than a typical Nylon Tents. Nylon tents are good for small groups of 2–4 people. However, if you have a big family or group of people camping together out in the wild, then canvas should definitely be the preferred choice as it is most preferred by large groups going for camping. Canvas camps also can be more adaptable against hard weather conditions. The main game is that the canvas tent is still up better than the nylon one a thousand.
3) If you are planning to go Camping in the winters then Canvas camp would be best and most suitable shelter from the cold weather as the twist of the threads block away the coldness. But it’s not only have a winter tent but a 4 season tent that can be used in all 4 seasons around the year.
4) Little openings and wear and tear creases in a canvas tent are less demanding to fix up, than tears and harmed creases in nylon tents.
5) Cotton is comfortable and breathable from the inside than nylon. As nylon may allow condensation but cotton maintains the humidity inside the tent to be like the outside. Cotton also does no transfer heat quickly like nylon, keeping the temperature inside the tent cooler than outside.
6) Cotton and hemp are natural, renewable materials that are biodegradable, making it absolutely better for the environment.
7) If it rains and you are out there you’d want to be more secure from water dropping inside the tent so canvas tent would be a lot more safer and water proof, even after its done raining this tent will dry up faster that other tents that are not canvas.
8) On space and capacity bases canvas tents are more bigger and better to store inside as it’s more capable for storing things inside it.

Preparing supplies and tools for an outdoor camping trip can make a lot of difference in your overall experience. Keeping an essentials checklist helps you stay organized, and there is a reason they are called essentials.
The must-have items on your list may vary depending on the type of your trip, camping location, and duration of your trip. Some of the common items that are a must-have include:
A pocketknife – this can be very handy and useful in emergencies. This versatile tool can be used to light a camping fire, fix a broken backpack and open cans when nothing else works.
First aid kit is a must-have. Even a basic package containing bandages and ointment can help you tend to the scratches, blisters and minor injuries while you wait for help to arrive.
Flashlight or a small pen light is vital to find your way in the dark. Make sure you carry extra batteries with you.
Water helps in preventing dehydration, heatstroke and also keeps your system clean. Keep lots of water bottles in stock.
Compass and a map can save you from getting lost in the wilderness. These critical tools can help you get back to your camp or locate your friends.
Why A High-Quality Outfitter Tent is A Must HaveWhile searching for the best camping tents for sale, you’ll find tents of various sizes and shapes, and it’s essential to pick the right one that fits your needs. But before that, you’d have to analyze the type of camping trip you’re going for. How many people can the tent accommodate? What extra features does it possess? Is it strong enough to bear harsh winds and torrential rain etc.?
Once you know what you are looking for you’ll spend your money wisely while browsing canvas tents for sale, and on the right tent. The crucial most features to look for in a camping tent are poles, durability, size, zippers, and of course, the material.
What’s The Ideal Size for An Outfitter Tent?
If you’re planning a short trip over the weekend, then a backpack or the back of your car would work just fine. But if you have a weeklong trip then you might need a tent that allows you to fit all of your belongings in it. The size of a tent is best measured by the number of people it can fit in.
Generally, a 2- person tent will have space for two people, but you won’t be able to move or fit in the extra gear. A four people tent would be suitable for 2 people. It will have enough space for them to stretch out and store their additional material such as camping mats too. And for a family of 6, it is recommended that you buy a tent for 8. The main idea while buying a tent is to buy one that has a capacity of two people more than the actual count.
If you can afford to stretch your budget, you might want to invest in multi-room tents. Multi-room tents come in various designs too. You can buy one that has rooms separated by a zipper inside the tent if you’re camping with kids and like some privacy to yourself. There’s also another with 3 room styles. In addition to 2 close rooms, you can find one added screen room to change dirty clothes or store the chairs and other material to keep them safe during rain.
Things You Must Look For In a Perfect TentTent with a durable rainfly
Rainfly acts as an umbrella for your tent. The bigger rainfly, the better. Make sure you have one that covers all the sides of your canvas rather than just the top.
Aluminum poles tent
Tent with aluminum poles are durable and can withstand harsh winds and rain. Most people end up buying fiberglass tents due to lack of knowledge. Remember that fiberglass tents are fragile and easily breakable. However, if you break a pole, some camping stores will send help or repair the poles.
A one-piece rub floor Tent
It’s crucial that your tent’s floor is made up of waterproof material and should come up a few inches from the side before it is attached to the tent walls. No extra place in the walls means there is no place for the water to leak into your tent.
Double Stitching and Folded seams Tents
Sometimes manufacturers might trick you into buying expensive tents but of low quality. If you pick up the sides and can easily see the stitches, be careful because this tent will definitely leak. You can always get a refund or use seam sealers to fix the problem.
A Tent with Guylines
Sometimes tent walls or rain-flies have various loops fixed on them. These loops are to attach guy lines that keep the tent walls intact. What you need to remember is that it is challenging to sleep in a tent that is flapping and making weird noises.
A Tent with Big Stake Loops
Before buying a tent make sure there are reasonably sized loops at the corners and center of your tent. The reason for making these loops big is so that they can easily hold plastic stakes sold in camping stores. Metal loops are preferred over plastic. Plastic stakes can easily break when subjected to hammering.
Heavy Duty Zippers
Safety is the foremost factor to consider when buying an outfitter tent that can efficiently work in the wilderness. You want a zipper that can provide support to the shelter and not get stuck in emergency situations.
More Tips to Increase the Life of Your Tent
One of the most vital tips to survive your camping trip is to never store ‘open food’ inside your tent. Well, storing food outside the container can make your tent stink. In fact, the smell of food will also attract insects and even larger animals.
Always store food in airtight containers or zip-lock bags. If you’re camping in an area that is infected with pests and other critters, buy a tent with a separate screen room.
When you return from a trip, set your tent and camping blanket in the yard and air it out. To keep your purchase functional for a long time, do not store your tent in moist places. Make sure you roll the tent and keep it safe in a ventilated area.

People often say that if you truly want to bond with someone, you should take them camping. Nothing brings people together more than staying away from the distractions of the world in a serene place with the night sky enveloping them. If you and your family are camping addicts and are looking for a new place to camp, then Yosemite is the perfect place for you. The Yosemite National Park covers a huge area but the most beautiful section of the park is the Yosemite Valley. Since the park is so humongous, you can find many different campgrounds inside the park. Here are three of the best camping sites in Yosemite that you can visit with your family;
1- Wawona Campground
The Wawona campground is located near the south entrance of the park. It’s almost an hour’s drive from the Yosemite Valley and one of the best camping sites in the park. Imagine you and your family camping out alongside the South Fork Merced River, surrounded by pine trees in every direction. Wouldn’t that be simply wonderful? The campground also has some amazing nearby attractions in the form of a giant grove of breathtaking sequoias called the Mariposa Grove and the Pioneer Yosemite History Center. To make sure that you don’t get cramped, you need to choose the perfect tent. A good option would be the family explorer deluxe 10’x10’ tent that caters to your every need. With enough space for six people and reinforced mesh material that allows for maximum privacy, this tent will make sure that your camping trip is a success.
2- Hodgdon Meadow Campground
Another campground glorious spot for spending time with your loved ones is the Hodgdon Meadow Campground. It’s less than an hour’s drive west of Yosemite Valley and is situated off Highway 120. One thing that draws campers towards this campground is the fact that camping at this site is really convenient and this campground is accessible all year round. If you want an authentic camping experience, then this is the perfect place. You can rest assured that you will make many friends on this trip, as the lack of trees in this area make it possible for all campers to mingle with each other. Without the proper camping equipment, you won’t be able to have an enjoyable experience. If you want a tent that fits all your needs and lets you camp in luxury, then bring home the Alpha Wall Tent 12’x14’. This super deluxe tent can fit up to 10 people for sleeping, giving you plenty of space to chill and have fun. Even if you have a small family, you will still have space to invite over all the fun friends you make at the camping ground.
3- Tuolumne Meadows Campground
One of the best sites for having an amazing camping experience in the summer is the Tuolumne Meadows Campground. This campground not only gives you a beautiful space to camp out but also gives you access to the many hikes and trails in the park. You can easily catch a beautiful sunset hike in the morning and camp out underneath the starry sky at night. The campground is situated at an elevation of 8600 feet so even if the day sun is scorching, you can have a good night’s sleep at night because of the cool breezes. There are 304 sites in the campground which means plenty of chances for you to get a booking. Another advantage that you get at this site is the convenience of flushable toilets and potable water, which are difficult to find sometimes. The perfect tent would be Regatta Bell Tent 16’. It can hold up to 8 people and the polyvinyl mesh is perfect for letting the cool summer breeze come through so you can sleep peacefully at night.
If you want to find the perfect spot then you need to plan in advance because the Yosemite National Park is one of the top camping sites in America. Spots at the park are pretty much in high demand all through the year so you need to pick the best time to choose your spot in advance. Once the spot has been booked, then all that’s left is the choice of the proper camping equipment without which your trip will not be successful. An incorrect tent will not only make it extremely uncomfortable for you and your family but will also put you at risk by exposing you to natural elements at the campground. So whatever you do, don’t forget to invest in the proper camping equipment. A small price to pay for the comfort and happiness of your loved ones during your camping trip.
This blog was first published on our website https://whiteduckoutdoors.com/blogs/blog/which-yosemite-camping-site-should-i-go-to-with-my-family-1 from https://wduckoutdoors.blogspot.com/2020/04/which-yosemite-camping-site-should-i-go.html The worst thing that can happen during camping is to sleep in an uncomfortable spot. Imagine that you, after a full day’s exciting yet exhaustive adventure, set up your canvas tent. You snuggle inside and lie down hoping for a good night’s rest. But what is that? An uneven soggy and lumpy ground? You change positions, but end up tossing and turning the entire night. What’s even worse is that saving the tent from water is next to impossible if there’s rain!
There is an easy solution to it you know. For places like forests and woods, sandy area, hilly stone sites or even parks, you can set up roof tents. Not sure what we are talking about? Here is all the information you need about roof tents for your next camping trip.
What are Roof Tents?
Roof tents are a camper’s best friend, particularly when you want to camp in wet areas or places where there is a chance of land sliding. Commonly known as the rooftop tent, these tents can be placed on top of your cars. They can also be placed on the roof bars that can fit on various cars and stand on the ground to provide stability.
The most wonderful thing about these tents is that they can easily be fitted in a small gear and then packed into your car for comfortable traveling. They are available in the waterproof material so even if you experience rain, you won’t get wet. Roof tents are simple to erect and lightweight too, which makes it easy for anyone to set them up even if they are not a pro at camping.
So why should you invest in a roof tent for your upcoming camping trip?
Roof Tents are a Good Investment
Most common ground tents can sometimes become rather difficult to manage. You may need to use hammers for pegs and read up the entire manual to make the tent stand up straight. It doesn’t just take extra time, it also involves a lot of effort. Also, you need to take it down every time you move or whenever water comes into the tent. Just think of all the extra hard work involved, particularly after a long day of trekking through your camping trip. The idea is enough to want you not to go camping.
Hence the reason roof top tents are all the rage these days. Here are all the reasons why you should invest in one.
Easy to Set Up
When you are tired after all the exploring, all you feel like at night is to eat, get warm and sleep. This is why roof tents are perfect for your camping trips. You can set up the whole thing within two minutes! One person can set up a tent on their own – you don’t need a person to hold up corners or tie the ends.
Of course, you will need to practice a little at first, but you can do that in advance before going on your trip. The best part is that you can leave your pillows, sheets and other things like a reading lamp, portable fan or your book inside when you take it off the roof. Could things get any simpler?
Roomy and Comfy
This may come as a surprise, but root tents are super roomy and comfortable. Depending on the size you get, 2-4 people can easily sleep in one without getting in each other’s faces or falling off from the tent.
It Does not Occupy Space… Inside the Car!
You don’t have to pack up the tent and put it inside your car. The tent folds up and can be tied to the top of the car and leave you lots of space inside the car for other camping gear and essentials. What’s more, you can even leave the tent open if you are only traveling for a short way and plan to set up camp within a few short miles.
No Hassle of Cleaning or Outside Dangers
You do not have to pick up anything once you invest in a root tent. There is no need to clean the tent of debris, dirt or leaves as the camp was up from the ground at all times. What’s more, they also save you from a variety of insects, small animals, and snakes. No animal will want to climb up and attack you. So you are safe when you are in a rooftop tent.
You can Camp Pretty Much Anywhere!
When you are traveling through some town and want access to a bathroom, snacks and Wi-Fi connection then the best place to set camp is in the parking lot of a fast-food joint or a supermarket like Walmart. Of course, you will need to seek permission from the owner of the place first but most businesses allow campers to park in the parking lot since you are using their services.
Not only roof tents are convenient and comfortable, but they are also cool to look at. People become awed when they see the advance tents you are using while they put up extra efforts to erect a ground tent. Now, do you have enough reasons to want to put your money up for a rooftop tent? Well, if there is any camping trip in foresight, now is the time to look up good and affordable tents and invest in them right away. You will not regret the decision and it won’t be long before you recommend these awesome tents to other campers! Have fun.

What can change your trip from a living heaven to living hell? “BUGS”… These bugs and other outdoor pests can make your camping a living hell. If you are a fan of great outdoors, you probably know from your experience that how these tiny insects can ruin even the most idyllic camping location with the noises they make or the bites they deliver to you. Luckily, you are not helpless in the face of these little demons.
Don’t be discourage from setting up camp exactly where you want by a handful of insects. Just follow the instructions in this article to keep bugs away from your canvas tents, and you will be able to enjoy pest-free outdoor experience of “Cold Air in Dark Night with Warm Fires and Bright Stars”. Read on to find out more.
First, make sure all the equipment you are carrying with you for camping is in good working order before you head out. Carefully check your tent, set up your tent in the backyard, for any places from where the bugs could get in, small holes, or maybe the zip is broken leaving gaps.
If you find any such areas, repair them -patch the holes, fix a snagged zipper by lubricating with oil to see if that will release it.
Secondly, once you are out in wild choose the location for your campsite wisely. Places which are prone to insect infestations- such as those with standing water (a literal breeding ground for mosquitoes), lots of vegetation (a source of shelter for the same), or the presence of utility light poles (bugs are attracted to light)- do “Avoid” them.
Next look for the natural features of your environment that are within your control, which means you do such activities in which you can prevent bugs gathering around your tent. For example, keep the dustbins away from your tent or don’t eat inside your tent as the smell of food can attract bugs.
Don’t leave your cooking stuff unwashed and make sure you store your food in either plastic or airtight container. Similarly, as mentioned above, bugs are attracted towards light, try not to use torches, lanterns, and sources of artificial light away from the door of your tent.
These are the “DO IT YOURSELF” methods for deterring bugs during your outdoor adventures. Here are some necessary things which you should carry with yourself when u r going for camping and expecting an insect free zone. First, take along a good insect repellent - most of the commercial ones are very effective, yet also contain DEET, a chemical thought by some to be toxic to humans.
If you don't want to expose yourself to this substance, then try one of the all-natural home-made ones - there are lots of recipes out there on the internet, so do your own research. In many of these 'natural' bug sprays, substances like eucalyptus oil are the active ingredient - so not only are they effective in shielding you from mosquitoes, they also make you smell good. Citronella candles are another good option here. Some outdoors men will even go to the lengths of hanging garlic and onions upon their tents as it is thought to keep the insects away!
A final pointer: wear insect repellent clothing, i.e. if the climate permits, choose thickly woven long sleeve shirts and pants, with thick woolen socks and heavy boots. On the other hand, if it's really hot, this won't be an option: fortunately, though, there are special clothes you can purchase that have insect repellent within their fabric, and that are said to work well in deterring bugs. How To Clean A Tent?
Canvas camping tents are very elastic and make exotic shelters for camping trips. Over the time, you might see filth on your tent, your tent will show grime from your camping adventures but a little care from your side will keep your tent fresh and clean. The good news is that canvas tents are easy to clean with the help of a few common household tools. Follow the simple steps below.
Step 1 - Remove Dust from Your Tent
You can easily clean dust from your canvas camping tents, if your canvas camping tent has accumulated lots of dust, dirt, and debris. Starting with unfolding your tent and aggressively shaking it to remove as much dust as possible and then lay the unfurled tent on a clean surface. Attach the stick brush with your vacuum cleaner and proceed to thoroughly vacuum the tent, paying special attention to any exceptionally dust-laden areas, corners, and storage pockets, as there are very high chances for bugs to be there. In case you don’t have vacuum cleaner or forgot to take it you can use a Dust buster, or a broom and dustpan in its place.
Step 2 - Remove Mold and Mildew from Your Tent
Once you are done with cleaning dust from the tent, separate the canvas tent canopy from the floor of the tent. You will wash the floor separately. You can leave the guy-lines on if they are dirty, just remember they must also be retreated in the end to prevent UV damage. If there are mold or mildew deposits on your canvas tent, you can effectively clean it with an easy-to-make homemade cleaning solution. To make this solution, combine ¼ cup of white wine vinegar and 1 cup of water. Combine the elements inside an empty spray bottle and jiggel it thoroughly. Spray your cleaning solution onto any mold or mildew-infested areas and allow it to sit for few minutes. Then you can wipe away any mold and mildew deposits with a sponge, paper towel, scrub brush, or washcloth. Continue to repeat this process until your canvas tent has been completely purged of mold and mildew.
Once you are done with removing all the traces of growth from the floor of tent, take a second empty spray bottle and fill it with warm water, which is healthy for cleaning the tent, and use it to rinse off your cleaning solution. Immediately use dry cloth or paper towel to dry the freshly cleaned area.
Step 3 - Remove Stains from Your Tent
You need to give your canvas camping tent a full wash, if it is exceptionally filthy and covered in stains. To perform this, fill a very large container with about 1 foot (30cm) of warm water. Add various cups of Ox clean and use your best judgment on how much to use vs. how dirty the tent is and reference the suggestions on the box. Stir thoroughly until the solution is dissolved completely. Warm water dissolves the solution better than cold water. Place the tent canvas (not the floor) in the container and fill it with water until the tent is submerged. Stir and agitate thoroughly so the solution is well mixed and the canvas is soaking evenly. Allow the tent to marinate for 4-10 hours, stirring occasionally. It’s ok to leave it soaking overnight if you need to. Place you tent on to clean surface to allow it to get dry and then clean it like a kitchen floor. Sweep it, mop it and rinse it. Repeat the process of soaking several times to make sure it’s completely clean then spread the canvas out on top of your clean tent floor and pitch it. You can also pitch the floor on top of your car, then place the canvas on top of that to assist with run off. Don’t put the canvas directly on your car because Ox clean can strip clear coat. Always allow your tent to dry completely after a camping trip and any cleaning. If you let the water stay for too long, the moisture could cause more mold and mildew to form. The best way to dry every area of your canvas tent is to set it up and allow it to air dry.
With a little TLC and a few basic ingredients, your clean tent will allow you years of camping enjoyment.
